Shower Maintenance Services in Denver, Colorado

Expert Stone Surface Shower Services for Stunning Bathroom Transformations

Showers can be some of the most neglected areas in a home. If your shower has lost some of its luster in one way or another, our services can restore it to a condition that matches or exceeds its original beauty.

Shower Cleaning

Grout lines and tile faces can suffer from a buildup of white ashy soap scum. In corners, along shower pans and vertical seams slimy pink mold can develop.

When we clean showers we always pretreat the tile and grout lines with a cleaning agent then use a high temperature vapor machine to clean and disinfect the grout and tile.

We can also remove and replace damaged and moldy caulking with a color matched acrylic of silicone.

Shower Repairs

Showers can sustain both grout and caulking damage. In these cases we remove the damaged material and replace it with a color matched product. In most cases the damage is minimal and is restricted to small areas. Usually wide scale grout damage does not persist. When it does, however, we replace all the grout in a shower to prevent more serious issues.

Water damage is one of the more serious issues we are trying to prevent when we repair and replace grout. A cracked grout line or damaged caulking can gradually allow moister to seep behind the tile and compromise shower wall. Water will de-bond tiles, saturate backing material and even compromise wall studs. When this happens we remove the loose and damaged tile, remove all rotted backing material and when required damaged support studs. Once the damaged material is removed it is replaced with quality replacement materials restoring the shower to a brand new condition.

Shower Refinishing

Marble, travertine and limestone in showers is susceptible to the same issues that it faces on countertops and floors. Its maintenance needs in a shower is always higher because of the moisture rich environment. Constant exposure to water, soap and shampoo can degrade a finish rapidly. Common to natural stone showers are drip marks that don’t seem to clean off, water spots and an overall dull finish compared to when it was installed.

To solve these issues we treat the stone on the wall the same as we do on the floor or countertop. We have to diamond refinish the each tile face to remove the imperfections then repolish or hone it to the customer’s desired finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why is professional shower stone and tile care important if I already clean regularly?

Routine cleaning helps remove surface grime, but it doesn’t address embedded moisture, soap scum buildup, etching, or unseen mold growth in grout and stone pores. Over time, these lead to discoloration, odors, and even permanent stone damage. Professional care includes deep cleaning, re-sealing, and restoration, which penetrates deeper than home methods and extends the lifespan of your stone. It’s not just cosmetic—it's protective.

  • What types of shower materials do you specialize in restoring?

Colorado Stone & Tile Care restores natural stone showers such as marble, travertine, slate, limestone, granite, as well as ceramic and porcelain tiles. Each stone type has unique porosity and mineral composition, requiring specific cleaning agents and sealing products. Incorrect care (like using vinegar on marble) can damage finishes. We tailor every service to the material type for safe and lasting results.

  • Is sealing my shower stone really necessary, and how often should it be done?

Yes—sealing is crucial to prevent water, oils, and soaps from penetrating the stone. Without a proper seal, natural stone showers are vulnerable to staining, etching, mold growth, and degradation. In Denver's climate, we recommend resealing every 12 to 18 months, depending on stone type, water usage, and cleaning habits. Our technicians test the stone’s porosity to determine the right sealing frequency.

  • Can you remove hard water stains and soap scum from natural stone?

Absolutely. These are some of the most common—and stubborn—issues we treat. Hard water leaves mineral deposits (calcium, magnesium) that cloud and etch the stone, while soap scum creates a dull, sticky layer. DIY methods often worsen the damage. We use pH-balanced cleaners, non-abrasive tools, and stone-safe descalers to gently lift buildup and restore clarity without harming the surface.

  • How do I know if my stone shower is damaged or just dirty?

Discoloration, dull patches, rough textures, or darkened grout lines may look like dirt but could actually be etching, mold infiltration, or mineral damage. A professional inspection will determine if restoration is needed or if cleaning will suffice. We offer moisture and porosity testing, visual diagnostics, and small sample cleanings so clients can see the difference before committing.

  • Are your products safe for children, pets, and septic systems?

Yes. Colorado Stone & Tile Care uses non-toxic, biodegradable, and pH-neutral products that are safe for use around families and environmentally friendly. We avoid harsh acids and volatile solvents commonly found in off-the-shelf cleaners. All our methods are septic-safe and designed with indoor air quality in mind, especially important in bathrooms with poor ventilation.

  • What are the hidden risks of neglecting a natural stone shower?

Unsealed or improperly maintained showers trap moisture, which can lead to mildew, efflorescence (mineral bloom), grout erosion, and sub-surface mold. Over time, water damage can even seep behind the stone, compromising wall structure. Mold and bacteria thrive in the pores of natural stone. Timely restoration prevents costly repairs and ensures a healthy, long-lasting shower environment.

  • How long does a typical shower restoration take?

Most single-shower restorations take between 3 to 6 hours, depending on the extent of buildup, stone type, and whether we’re deep cleaning, regrouting, sealing, or repairing etching. For more intensive jobs or large-scale showers, the process may be spread over two visits to allow for proper drying and curing between steps. We always aim to minimize bathroom downtime while ensuring a flawless finish.

  • Will shower restoration fix cracked tiles or missing grout?

Restoration focuses on surface revival, grout repair, and sealing, but cracked tiles may require replacement. We can handle minor repairs, like filling hairline cracks or replacing deteriorated grout and caulking. For extensive tile damage, we’ll advise whether a partial repair or full retiling is more cost-effective and ensure the surrounding areas are restored to match seamlessly.

  • Can a professionally restored shower improve home value?

Definitely. Bathrooms are one of the most evaluated areas in a home sale. A clean, polished, and mold-free natural stone shower gives buyers confidence in the property’s upkeep and adds luxury appeal. It’s a smart, cost-effective way to refresh your space without a full renovation. Even if you’re not selling, restoring your shower improves your daily experience and adds long-term value.
